FSC Canada was on the road in Chicago for 3 days in November making a stop at the international Greenbuild Conference & Tradeshow and the FSC US 'Design & Build with FSC' Awards.

Our first stop was at Greenbuild which featured over 1,000 exhibitors showcasing the latest in innovative green building products and services. This year's tradeshow included the FSC US booth, built entirely of FSC-certified wood and featuring a variety of FSC-certified products. If you didn’t have a chance to be there in person, take a look at our photos on Facebook.

Our second stop was  the FSC US ‘Design & Build with FSC’ Awards, which recognizes designers and builders who are committed to using FSC-certified wood in their building projects.

The 2010 awards went to two projects stretching the boundaries of environmental design. This year's commercial development award went to the FondAction Building in Quebec City, QC. The 60,000 square foot office building used more than 400,000 board-feet of FSC-certified wooden glulams, valued at $1.02 million, as an alternative to steel and concrete construction. The building also made extensive use of FSC-certified wood in the interior including doors, doorframes, and a suspended wooden ceiling.

The 2011 Greenbuild and the FSC Design & Build awards will both be held in Toronto, ON.
