Thank you for celebrating forests on FSC Friday!

FSC Friday – Without forests there would be no maple syrup. Maple Syrup is made from maple trees. These trees store starch in their trunks and roots before the winter, the starch then converts to sugar and rises in the sap in the spring. Maple syrup was first collected and used by Aboriginal Peoples of North America – so in case you were curious, it wasn't Aunt Jemima. Without this sugary staple, our pancakes would just have to hang out with the butter. Look for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) label when buying forest products and help keep our forests healthy. FSC Canada would like to thank the countless numberof people that helped celebrate FSC and responsible forestry on FSC Fridaywhich took place on September 27th, 2013.  read more …
