Get Certified

Based on a 2021 global survey, 8 of 10 consumers expect companies to ensure that their wood or paper products do not contribute to deforestation or damage wildlife habitats. 76% of those consumers believe strongly in the importance of independent certification and, in Canada, this belief has increased by 8%. What’s more, many of these consumers are already taking action with 86% saying that they check product information before buying to make informed choices.

So, if you are either a forest owner or manager, or a business that produces or trades forest products, it is more important than ever to prove to your consumers that you operate in an environmentally, economically and socially responsible way. FSC certification can help.

There are two (2) types of FSC certification:

  • Forest management certification: for forest owners and managers, FSC certification provides third-party audited assurance that your processes and operations meet FSC standards
  • Chain of custody certification: for businesses manufacturing or trading forest products, FSC certification verifies that products are handled correctly at every stage of production.

Benefits of Certification

As the world's most recognized and trusted forest-certification scheme to protect the world's forests - our labels are important to your consumers. 55% of global consumers understand what the FSC label stands for and 75% of shoppers who are aware of FSC will choose an FSC-certified product over its non-certified equivalent.

Both certifications allow you to apply FSC labels to your products and make FSC claims in your sales documents (thereby maintaining the chain of custody for FSC-certified products).

FSC certification will also support your environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals with our requirements supporting 14 of 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  This can open doors into new markets with many companies, and increasingly governments, having compliance policies that place preference on FSC certification. In fact, FSC is the preferred certification scheme and the one most widely used by Fortune 500 businesses.
