In order to ensure a globally consistent and rigorous approach to assessing risk associated with forest management, FSC is revising the Procedure for the development of National Risk Assessments (FSC-PRO-60-002) and developing the National Risk Assessment Framework, a procedure for determining risk, (FSC-PRO-60-002b) to resolve concerns about the current content of the Controlled Wood standard FSC-STD-40-005 and difficulties in interpretation of requirements for risk assessments.

FSC would like to invite you to comment on the second drafts of Controlled Wood normative documents.

FSC–PRO-60-002 The Development and Approval of Controlled Wood National Risk Assessments. This document regulates process of National Risk Assessment development.

FSC-PRO-60-002a* FSC National Risk Assessment Framework. This document provides requirements for the contents of National Risk Assessments, including requirements for the risk assessment process.*Please note that the code of the FSC National Risk Assessment Framework was changed from FSC-PRO-60-002b to FSC-PRO-60-002a.

FSC-PRO-60-002b List of FSC approved Controlled Wood documents. This is an addendum to the Procedure will include approved CW documents and replaces the current addendum ‘List of approved National and Regional Controlled Wood Risk Assessments.

FSC-STD-40-005 Requirements for sourcing Controlled Wood. This standard provides CoC-certified Organizations interested in Controlled Wood certification with clear requirements for sufficient due diligence on how to evaluate non-certified supplies according to the risk determination of supply areas provided by National Risk Assessment(s).

FSC-STD-30-010 Forest management requirements for Controlled Wood certification. This standard specifies revised Controlled Wood requirements at the forest level (the term ‘Supply Unit’ is introduced as an adaptation of the ‘Management Unit’ used in Forest Management certification), aligned with the requirements of other consulted documents.
