In February 2013, FSC Members in Canada voted and passed a motion agreeing that the strategic approach of FSC Canada’s Standard Revision Process will include establishing national common indicators that will be applied in all regions; identifying and developing regional specific indicators; developing one National Standard; and supporting meaningful national and regional participation.
To initiate this work, FSC Canada began by comparing existing regional Forest Management standards in Canada and launching a survey to help identify key indicators that require further discussion from stakeholders and experts.

As a result of these efforts, FSC Canada will host a series of workshops and webinars across Canada to help develop regional specific indicators including indicators that are considered problematic, ecologically or socially important or indicators that need to be strengthened. Indicators will be written by a technical expert along with FSC Canada staff and will be subject to public consultation.
FSC Canada invites all interested stakeholders to participate in the workshops. Please see below for a list of dates, locations and how to reserve your seat.

Forest Management Standard Revision Workshop and Webinar Schedule
FSC Canada has identified the following objectives for the first phase of the Forest Management Standards Revision Process to be addressed during the workshops and webinars:
- Exchange information and discuss FSC Canada’s Standards Revision Process;
- Identify key indicators that require further discussion and expert input;
- Review and discuss International Generic Indicators (IGIs);
- Identify discrepancies with provincial regulations (key indicators survey, regional meetings);
- Seek input on parts of the draft National Standard and methodology.
FSC Canada will use the input collected from surveys, workshops and webinars to develop documents related to regional issues and indicators, and in turn, these will be used to focus regional and national discussions that will commence in the fall and winter.
