The Board was reacting to a report of a meeting between the CEOs of FSC International and Resolute FP, held in late March in an attempt to resolve ongoing issues around the suspension of FSC certificates. FSC representatives stated the meeting with Resolute FP’s senior management had been constructive, and noted Resolute FP’s continued commitment to support FSC’s credibility and reputation. The two parties agreed to continue to work together to pave the way for the restoration of currently suspended certificates.

The meeting was held following the publication of an open letter, on 16 March 2015, from FSC to Resolute FP requesting Resolute FP to stop discriminatory activities against FSC and take appropriate corrective and preventive measures, demonstrating respect to FSC’s requirements outlined in its Statutes, membership criteria and Policy of Association. The letter was issued by FSC in response to repeated public attacks by Resolute FP on FSC’s management and policies, following the suspension of three of Resolute FP’s FSC certificates.

Resolute FP holds three valid FSC certificates covering 5.3 million hectares of forest land. Two FSC certificates covering 5.6 million hectares are currently suspended, while two other certificates covering 3.2 million hectares have been terminated within the past 6 months.
