In 2013, Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Ltd. Group (APRIL) was accused by Greenpeace, WWF-Indonesia and Rainforest Action Network of being involved in large-scale deforestation activities in Indonesia and bringing negative social and environmental impacts to areas with high conservation values.

Consistent with our mission to promote responsible management of forests worldwide, over the last 10 months FSC has been engaging with an independent consultancy, Forest Finest Consulting, to evaluate the allegations of the original complaint and other potential violations of our Policy for Association.

A complete, objective, and comprehensive baseline analysis has been commissioned by the FSC to inform its dialogue with APRIL and be shared with interested stakeholders.

The result of this baseline analysis has now been published on the FSC website and can be found here. As a next step in the process, we would like to share the findings of the baseline analysis with all interested stakeholders, along with the actions we are taking to safeguard the forests and their communities in Indonesia.

On the 7th and 9th of December, FSC will be hosting two webinars on the APRIL baseline assessment. We invite our stakeholders to join these webinars, so that we can provide more details and answer questions about the analysis and the next steps in this case.
