Tembec and Resolute Forest Products has announced that they have received FSC group certification of forest management units 084-51 and 087-51, covering over 1,375,000 hectares near Senneterre, Quebec.

"We are proud of this achievement: it is the result of three years of collaboration with various industry stakeholders. The certification of this additional area allows Tembec's Senneterre mill to source 100% of its timber under a timber supply and forest management agreement that is FSC-certified."  said Dennis Rounsville, Tembec's Executive Vice President and President of the Forest Products Group.

Tembec has 10.8 million hectares of FSC-certified forests in Canada and offers the broadest range of FSC-certified products on the market to help its customers meet consumer demand for environmentally responsible solutions.

Resolute Forest Products recently certified 3.2 million hectares (7.9 million acres) of forestlands in the Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec to the FSC Boreal Standard. This certification raises the total area of Resolute-managed FSC-certified forests in North America to 13.7 million hectares, an area twice the size of Nova Scotia and larger than Portugal, Hungary or South Korea.
