We are excited to share that the revised Ecosystem Services Procedure (FSC-PRO-30-006 V2-1) will now be supported by an online ES Registry, providing streamlined data management, enhanced analytics and functions, and more efficient collaboration.

All Certificate Holders who have requested to have ES in their scope, now have the ability to fill in the ES Report on the platform, and the Certificate Bodies have the ability to review the ES Reports and approve them.

What is the ES Registry?

The ES Registry is an online digital platform with GIS capabilities which enables Certificate Holders, Certification Bodies, Certification Body Auditors, and FSC to interact in an end-to-end certification process under the Ecosystem Services Procedure (FSC-PRO-30-006 V2-1).

The ES Registry is also designed to enable a marketplace where, in the future, Certificate Holders will be able to transact on confirmed ES Reports with interested sponsors who will be able to access relevant information in the ES Registry.

What does it include?

  • Mechanisms to onboard Forest Managers, Certification Body Admins, and Certification Body Auditors
  • A detailed, multi-step form for Forest Manager CHs to create and submit digitized Ecosystem Services Reports (ESRs)
  • Spatial maps representing the application of Forest Management Units and the services associated with them
  • User friendly interfaces for Certification Body Admins and Auditors to access ESRs, manage them, and confirm certification decisions.  These are available in three languages – English, French and Spanish.
  • A new data foundation on cutting edge Microsoft Fabric technology to capture, store and process all ESR data properly.  This will eventually form the foundation for reporting and analytics.
  • Capture the map data for forest management units within Esri technology.
  • Automated quality checks for data completeness, uniqueness, and validity.

The ES Registry is mandatorily applicable to FSC certificate holders who plan to audit under the recently revised ES Procedure (FSC-PRO-30-006 V2-1) from October 1, 2025.
