FSC Canada encourages all interested parties to attend FSC's webinar to better understand the implementation of the revised controlled wood standard. The webinar will focus on the development and use of risk assessments that assess the risk of material originating from unacceptable sources. These are crucial for the implementation of the revised controlled wood standard.

The risk assessments are part of the due diligence system implemented by organizations applying the revised controlled wood standard to avoid material from unacceptable sources. They comprise risk assessments developed, and currently being developed, by FSC, as well as risk assessments conducted by organizations for areas where FSC does not have an approved risk assessment.

The main topics covered by the webinar will be:

  • How risk assessments are developed by FSC.
  • How risk assessments developed by FSC should be used by organizations implementing the revised controlled wood standard.
  • How organizations can conduct risk assessments for the origin of material when no FSC risk assessment exists for a particular area.
  • Webinars have been scheduled at various times on 16 and 17 March 2016 to accommodate stakeholders in different time zones.
