Responsibilities Reporting to the President and C.E.O., the Manager of Business Development’s main responsibility is fundraising, with a heavy corporate sales component. Working in collaboration with senior executive staff and the Board of Directors, the Manager of Business Development will sell products and services for FSC Canada that fulfill the short and long-term objectives of a new financial model. Coordination of Business Development  

  • Generate funds through the development and implementation of a structured partnership program with key stakeholders and partners
  • Provide leadership and guidance for all FSC Canada business development initiatives, as necessary for the successful development and ongoing maintenance of structured partnerships.·        
  • Establish and maintain structured partnerships in accordance with FSC International’s requirements for the Key Accounts program.·        
  • Identify and develop work plans and funding proposals for development opportunities that will further advance FSC Canada’s mission and vision.  ·        
  • Report on issues related to FSC business development, which may affect FSC’s activities in Canada. ·        
  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities. ·        
  • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.  

Working with FSC International and the Global Network ·        

  • Liaise with FSC International’s Business Development Unit on FSC Canada’s progress with attaining Key Accounts ·        
  • Collaborate with FSC National Offices across the globe on partnership projects that pan geographic borders.

Relationship Building 

  • Respond to all partnership inquires and requests received by FSC Canada related to the implementation and application of FSC structured partnership and fundraising in Canada in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and build relationships with key stakeholders and partners as it relates to business development.   

 
Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience in Business Development or Fundraising
  • A Bachelors Degree in management, a Masters Degree or MBA is preferred
  • Fluent in oral and written English and French
  • Proven track record of contacts and demonstrable accomplishments working with senior
  • Proven success as an experienced Fundraiser
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly development business relationships
  • Ability to work in a small organization, with limited budget
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups and negotiating the complexity of the different interests, perspectives and objectives
  • Strong negotiating skills with ability to effectively turnaround objections and work around business obstacles
  • Ability to build collaboration, work cooperatively and facilitate discussions;
  • Strong organizational and management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical skills with preparing business proposals
  • Willing to travel. Requires a valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for local business trips.
