FSC-certified Prairie Pulp & Paper Inc. is the first company in Canada to manufacture, Step Forward, FSC-certified straw copy paper. The paper contains 80% leftover straw and 20% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood fibre.
The Walt Disney Company has launched a new responsible sourcing policy stating their preference to maximize the use of FSC-certified and recycled products for their day-to-day business operations as well as its consumer products and packaging.
At the 2011 FSC General Assembly, the highest decision making body of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the FSC Membership passed Policy Motion 51 to ‘Strengthen the Controlled Wood System’. The motion includes a revision of the Controlled Wood Standard (FSC-STD-40-003), an evaluation of existing risk assessments, the phase-out of company developed Risk Assessments and the development of FSC National Controlled Wood Risk Assessments by December 31st, 2012.
