What are ecosystem services?
Ecosystem services are the benefits that we obtain from nature, such as carbon storage, water supply and purification, soil fertility and retention, biodiversity, and recreational services.

What are the objectives of this procedure?
Managing forests in accordance with the FSC Principles and Criteria includes maintaining and conserving ecosystem services. The new procedure will describe how to evaluate the positive impacts of FSC certification on ecosystem services at the level of the forest management unit. The demonstration of these impacts will help certificate holders to access ecosystem services markets.
