To do this, we have adapted the principles of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) and strengthened forest certification requirements in the new Canadian National Forest Management Standard.
Now, in addition to the release of the new Standard, FSC Canada has released a Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) Guidance document to assist certificate holders, Indigenous communities and stakeholders in understanding the application of FPIC in relation to the National Forest Management Standard.
