Listen to a recent episode of the FSC podcast ‘Forest for the Future’ which covers Russia's military invasion of Ukraine and how FSC acts as a voluntary system when one country invades another country, with violent actions and consequences for the local population.

Tuesday March 8, 2022, FSC announced FSC 's decision to suspend all FSC Chain of Custody certificates in Russia and Belarus so that no product from any of the countries can be sold with FSC claims after April 8, 2022. Forest management certificates in Russia may remain valid, but without the opportunity to sell FSC wood. The decision was almost two weeks in the making, and in the latest episode of the podcast, FSC dives into why it was such a difficult decision to make and what we expect its impact to be on both people and forests; not only in the affected regions, but also in the rest of the world.

To help answer these difficult questions, FSC Denmark's strategic director Loa Worm spoke with Kim Carstensen , FSC 's CEO , Marc Jessel , FSC System Integrity Director and Lieske Van Santen , FSC Global Network Director .
